Item Description

Highlighted by a large, elongated cube of lustrous and partially translucent, light purple fluorite crystal measuring 6 cm in length, this specimen exhibits the characteristics found in most Blackdene Mine fluorite specimens - color and a sharp, very geometric form. This material came out generally in the late 1800s and perhaps into the early 1900s, and is considered an English classic. This specimen, although not quite pristine (a few nipped corners) is nevertheless very well preserved given the age. Ex Russell Jones collection to Evan Jones to Keith Williams, and kept for the sharp geometry in his suite of geometric specimens. Valued $1200 on his label. From the Keith Williams Collection of miniatures and small cabinet specimens - Keith was a well-known dealer and collector for decades before retiring recently. Note this is the material that gave its name to the very word, fluorescence, and is strongly glowing under UV light!
