Item Description

The Fluorites from Unaweep Canyon in Western Colorado are known locally as some of the most attractive Fluorites from anywhere in the state. The eye-catching and distinctive crystals form, along with vibrant colors and the fact that they are often associated with purple Amethyst makes them some of the most eye-catching Fluorites from any locality in Colorado. This piece is a good small cabinet display specimen of this classic material featuring a coverage of translucent, medium green botryoidal Fluorite overgrowing a layer of gentle purple Amethyst, with a thin layer of additional green Fluorite underneath. The most important aspect of the piece to me is that there are tiny bladed semi-"rosettes" of white Barite on the piece, which is hard to find in my experience with this material. No real damage that I can see with the naked eye. Hard to find on the market today, and certainly worth picking up if you collect Fluorites, Colorado minerals or specimens from the United States. A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this famous locale. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
