Item Description

This specimen was labeled as coming from the Dry Gill Mine in Cumbria, but there is no report of Fluorite from this locality. I suspect it's from Weardale, though the exact locality is a mystery. If anybody out there has insight as to where this piece might be from, please let us know. With that said, the specimen is loaded with GEM quality lilac purple colored cubes of Fluorite (some of which show penetration twins) measuring up to 5 mm on solid silvery-grey Galena matrix. Good quality all around and very attractive up close. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10684). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
