Item Description

While people might think of the pegmatite localities in Pakistan, as mostly producing minerals like Beryl and Topaz, there are a few that produce excellent Fluorite crystals. Some of the specimens are honestly among the finest quality Fluorites from any pegmatite locality in the world. The famous pieces from Chumar Bakhoor are beloved for their excellent form and color, and this piece is a fantastic thumbnail sized display specimen featuring a sharp, lustrous, very well-formed, GEM QUALITY, modified octahedral crystal measuring 2.2 cm across, sitting on a crystallized group of silvery Muscovite. The Fluorite crystal has a variance in color showing predominantly a very pale pink hue, with a slight amount of pastel green on one side. No major damage that I can find on the display side, but it's not 100% complete on the back where it was separated from the pocket wall. The Fluorite is notably sharp and transparent for the material, as most crystals from Chumar Bakhoor can be slightly "rounded" in their form, and typically are more translucent. The luster is certainly above average as well. A great piece with excellent quality, form and aesthetics from this renowned locale.
From the collection of David E Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background.
