Item Description

Baveno is a world famous locality, well-known for its fine Feldspar crystals to the point where a twinning habit was named after the locality. Most people are familiar with Orthoclase and Quartz combinations from this famous area, but Fluorite specimens are a bit more elusive. Here we have a lovely miniature display specimen featuring a gemmy group of soft purple colored Fluorites with predominantly cubic form though small octahedral modifications can be seen. The stepped faces of the Fluorites give them real character. Individual crystals measure to about 8 mm, and the entire Fluorite group is beautifully perched atop classic Orthoclase and Quartz matrix. Only very minor damage that I can see, and very showy! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10789). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
