Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

Fascinating architectural form containing Fluorite crystals aesthetically scattered on both sides of two large vertical Quartz seams forming a pocket completely covered with "popcorn" white Quartz. The mostly isolated translucent light green Fluorites show a modified cuboctahedral habit with some stepped growth faces. The Fluorite in the middle of the "pocket" is 4.1 cm across. When displayed under lighting, the green color from the Fluorites can be seen glowing through the backside of the Quartz. A very cool effect! The piece is in good condition with only periphery edge contacting from extraction. The specimen has great three dimensionality that is accented by the elegant look of the isolated Fluorites that appear to float in the contrasting fields of white Quartz. It also has great fluorescence for both the Fluorites (purple) and the Quartz areas, showing yellow, indicating a possible unknown clay mineral under the Quartz. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl Collection.
