Item Description

Here we have a great, showy piece of Fluorite from the famous De'an Mine in China. The crystals are essentially cubic in habit, but oriented into octahedral forms, which is different from the traditional octahedral Fluorites we're used to seeing from this mine. The color is mostly purple, but with backlighting you can see green tones, a combination of colors that is a signature from De'an The matrix is crystallized white Quartz (not etched) like many of the specimens seen from this locale. The main Fluorite group measures 3.3 cm across and is notably gemmy with smooth, lustrous faces. There are a couple smaller undamaged Fluorites off to the side which are more predominantly cubic in habit. The intergrown crystals on the other side are unfortunately contacted, but it doesn't necessarily take away from the quality and beauty of the main crystal. The piece could be trimmed to remove the contacted Fluorites if one desired. It's a "different" piece than what we're used to seeing, but China never disappoints when it comes to "different" kinds of specimen. A really attractive Fluorite for anybody who loves Chinese minerals or worldwide Fluorites. Priced in our inventory at $1250.
