Item Description

A rare specimen from a small, remote locality even further out from Dalnegorsk, and often in fact confused as being part of the Dalnegorsk complex of mines. Ed Davids catalogue notes that he paid for this piece $4800 in 1999 from Keith Proctor's collection. While expensive, that is not actually insane as I HAVE seen Russian specialists charge a super premium for the rare fluorites from this locality before. To pay that, though, you have to really specifically want one and so I figure a more fair value is probably around $3000 all things considered compared to fluorites of such habit from elsewhere. It is a superb specimen, extremely aesthetic, with sharp green octohedra to just over an inch crowning quartz matrix. A larger octo is on thebackside as well. The piece is elegant and complete all around. From the Dr. Ed David collection
