Fluorite on Sphalerite (classic US material - ex. Neely)

Item Description

This small cabinet specimen features fifteen or more perfectly formed, zoned, transparent to translucent, purple Fluorite cubes perched on splendent, black-brown Sphalerite crystals. The Fluorites are splendid in being medium purple overall, but having a distinct, 1 to 2 mm, dark purple zone at the very exterior of each cube. The crystals have great luster and transparency that is slightly masked by the profuse amount of minute growth hillocks on all of the faces. This is a fine combination specimen seldom seen from Elmwood in this quality as the Fluorite crystals are not only attractive but pristine. The brilliantly lustrous Sphalerite crystals abound with gemmy, orange-red, highlights. A superb specimen from one of the side collections of small cabinet cuties, assembled in the past by Dr. Steve Neely, the well known and prolific Elmwood collector. Valued $750-950
