Item Description

An aesthetic and rich small cabinet fluorite plate from the famous mines at Dal'negorsk. Densely intergrown, lustrous, rich deep grape-purple cubes, to 8 mm, with frosted faces and moderate translucence artistically cover the sculptural plate. Nearly pristine, with only one lightly bruised cube edge. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11003 and acquired in the Spring of 1991, when Dal'negorsk material was just reaching the US market. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Moderate deep purple fluorescence. Purple cubes of this richness are very uncommon from here.
