Item Description

Elongated fluorite cubes with this striking monolithic style are VERY RARE from the famous Blackdene Mine and this is a superb combination miniature. Very aesthetically intergrown lustrous and translucent cubes have pretty light lavender color and frosted faces. One side of the monolith is covered with RARE for the locale, tiny flattened siderite rhombs and a 3 mm chalcopyrite sphenoid on another side are super accessories. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2862 and acquired from Ron Romanella in April, 1963. Ron was a prominent New York City dealer, who was the mentor for well-known dealer, Herb Obodda. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). The piece is from Weardale, County Durham, not Cumbria, as Kay's label states. VERY RARE and outstanding combination fluorite in this unique style.
