Fluorite (rich color for the locality)

Typically the Fluorite specimens from the Tule Mine have a soft purple color, but a small percentage of them feature a deep purple hue, like this piece. With that said, these are some of the most distinctive Fluorites from any Mexican locality. This beautiful cabinet features beautiful, sharp cubic crystals of Fluorite with a high reflective luster and a very dark purple hue on the surface which is overgrowing a much lighter (nearly colorless in areas) layer of Fluorite underneath. There is no matrix, the piece is solid Fluorites, and when backlit, the color looks fantastic. The largest crystal measures 5.3 cm on edge. No major damage to the front/display side, but a few small nicks can be seen. These pieces have been around for decades, but in recent years seem to have dried up on the market. A must have for any fan of worldwide Fluorites or Mexican minerals. Valued $1,250.
