Item Description

From a small, and clearly distinguished, pocket found in 2014, this glittering combination piece is from the famous Yaogangxian Mine in China. Each species of this small cabinet piece is notable, but the landscape is clearly the domain of this gemmy, purple Fluorite crystal. Super sharp and 2.2 cm long, it has excellent fluorescence and a deep-purple edge phantom that is a hallmark of Yaogangxian Fluorites. There is a tiny amount of wear along one edge of the Fluorite, but it has no real effect on the distinctive and choice aesthetics of this excellent specimen. The Fluorite rests on a surface entirely composed of lustrous white Dolomites intermixed with razor-sharp, deep golden-honey, Scheelite pseudo-octahedrons. Not only is the luster on the Scheelites superb, but they have the classic white fluorescence under SW and a deep, muted, orange-brown fluorescence under LW. Shooting under UV has even brought some underlying Calcite to light. All of this completely coats one side of a large Ferberite, which you would never have suspected was the 'matrix' until you turned the piece over. Beautiful combo piece!
