Item Description

There are lots of Fluorite localities in China, but this small discovery from around 2010 still stands out as one of the more interesting, unusual and limited finds I've seen. This is a really attractive Fluorite specimen showing a unique saturated golden-orange color, that really glows with color when backlit. The specimen is essentially a solid slab of tightly intergrown cubic crystals (no matrix), but it should be noted that it does have a saw mark on the back. I love the internal color, and it's so captivating that it really makes one think of some other mineral than Fluorite because the color is so unusual for the species. The largest Fluorite cube measures approximately 1.7 cm, but it's hard to isolated a single crystal as they're so tightly intergrown. These are virtually impossible to find on the market now, and if you collect Fluorites or Chinese minerals, you need one of these in your collection. The surface of the specimen is slightly dull as it appears to have a slight coating of some sort, so the piece is best viewed when backlit. For the most part, the piece is in good shape, but there are a few small bruises on the top / display side.
