Fluorite (unusual style)

An unusual and distinctive older specimen from the famous Naica Mine featuring attractive, rather gemmy, multi-colored highly modified crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.8 cm, associated with soft golden colored scalenohedral Calcites and a small amount of matrix. The Fluorites range from nearly black on the exterior edges to a rich purple to virtually colorless towards the base of the crystals. They have a gentle matte luster on nearly all faces, but the top cubic faces are smooth and brighter than the rest. There is a bit of roughness on the back, but the piece is largely in fine condition. Very aesthetic and showy, certainly different than most Fluorites you'll see from this famed locale. Valued at $1,250 retail on the old DeNatura label, but honestly it's probably higher in today's market.
