Item Description

A very unusual and captivating twinned crystal of Fluorite from the Daguishan Mine in Hezhou, Guangxi, China. When I first saw the piece, I literally though it was an odd-looking gem blue Topaz from Virgem da Lapa in Brazil, but it's in fact a nearly 100% gem quality "Spinel"-twin of icy blue Fluorite with a light dusting of pale pinkish-beige Muscovite, and if you look very closely with a loupe, you can see some tiny purple Fluorites sitting on top of some of the Muscovite, so you have two generations of Fluorite on the same specimen. The faces of the twin alternate between glassy and smooth to almost etched looking with a slightly matte appearance. The piece is not pristine, as there is a cleave on the top, but it's hidden when the piece is display on the free accompanying acrylic base. A really odd and rarely seen specimen that would make a nice addition to any Fluorite suite, a collection of minerals from China or a collection of interesting crystal morphologies. Originally priced in our inventory at $2,500.
