Item Description

An impressive, deceptive and uncommon large combination from this well-known extinct mine in a famous and historic German lead-fluorite mining district. Scintillating, gemmy quartz points with interior flecks of iron oxide inclusions imbue a light brown tint and cover the rolling matrix plate. One edge gives a hint of what lies beneath. The matrix is massive, glassy, translucent green fluorite, that the locality is noted for. Very showy and unusual large combination style material from this mine, with extremely rich quartz. Specimens from here are seldom on the market. Purple fluorite fluorescence Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3103 and probably acquired in the 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017).
