Fluorite with bi-colored Beryl and Schorl (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

This is one of only a handful of pieces of this material that I've ever had to offer. The specimen comprises a rarely seen combination from the famous Erongo Mountains featuring a gorgeous, rich blue-green color, gemmy, cuboctahedral crystal of Fluorite measuring 2.8 cm, sitting among thin, sharp, lustrous, prismatic crystals of unusual bi-colored Beryl crystals showing a pastel greenish-yellow hue throughout the majority of the prisms, but have beautiful blue "caps" on the terminations. The largest Beryl measures 2.0 cm long. At the center of the specimen is an almost "jackstraw"-esque nest of thin needles of black Schorl Tourmaline. A tiny bit of white Feldspar can be seen on the underside, but there really is no matrix to speak of. Fluorites from Erongo are celebrated for their beautiful colors and forms (the famous "Alien Eye" Fluorites come to mind), but it's exceedingly rare to find them associated with Beryl in my experience, and certainly not the bi-colored crystals like this. If you're a fan of Fluorites, Beryls, minerals of Africa / Namibia or if you just like colorful pegmatite association specimens, do not pass up this beautiful, aesthetic and rarely seen combo from this famous mineral specimen producing area.
