Item Description

Here we have a very impressive and superb quality Fluorite specimen from the famous Moscona Mine. The first and most important aspect of the piece to point out is the fact that it's a complete "floater", as it's totally crystallized on ever side, with no damage or point of contact to be seen anywhere. The piece formed as a large "rib" that was obviously detached from the pocket wall at some point during its formation, and the underside of the piece was recrystallized ("re-healed") covered by small scalenohedral Calcite crystals overgrowing an oddly purple colored layer of Fluorite. Both sides of the piece are loaded with gorgeous with golden colored, sharp, lustrous gemmy Fluorite cubes measuring up to 9 mm which are elegantly accented by "saddle"-shaped white Dolomite crystals on the front, and dozens if not hundreds more tiny scalenohedral Calcites on the back. I've seen a good number of specimens from this locality, and complete "floaters" like this, especially in THIS size are virtually impossible to find. An excellent large cabinet sized specimen from this well known Fluorite producing district. A must have piece for any fan of worldwide Fluorites, Spanish minerals or superb quality large cabinet display specimens. Priced at $4,000 in our inventory.
