Item Description

Panasqueira is one of the great European localities, producing some truly iconic and memorable mineral specimens. Not only are individual species regocnized from Panasqueira, but you'll often find great association pieces hosting several fine quality crystallized minerals together on the same piece. This cabinet sized specimen features a rich amount of beautiful dark purple crystal clusters of cuboctahedral Fluorite measuring up to 1.3 cm across, which are associated with an isolated bladed crystal of jet-black Ferberite that measures 1.4 cm, and if you look around, you'll see some translucent, tabular soft golden colored tabular crystals of Fluorapatite which measure up to 1.5 cm. The matrix is covered with small crystals of dark greenish-brown Siderite and clusters of Muscovite mica. Very little damage (I can see a couple of the Fluorite groups have contacted areas on the front), but the piece is in fine shape overall and looks beautiful up close and on display in a mineral case. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-191149.html
