Item Description

A dramatic and eye-catching cabinet sized display specimen of classic Weardale Fluorite (but not from the famous Rogerley Mine) featuring very gemmy to WATER-CLEAR, razor-sharp, highly lustrous silvery-purple colored cubes measuring up to 1.4 cm on edge which are associated with sharp, well-formed, silvery-grey colored cuboctahedral Galena crystals measuring up to 2.0 cm on Quartz matrix. Some of the Fluorites show classic interpenetrant twins on a cube-diagonal twinning axis. The mirror like luster combined with the incredibly sharp faces of the Fluorites is difficult to reproduce in the photos, but it looks fantastic in person. Like many Weardale Fluorites, this pieces shows fantastic fluorescence both in daylight and UV light. The piece is in excellent shape overall, with only very minor imperfections, but overall fantastic. Valued at $2,750 for the excellent size, quality and the obscure locality - the Stotfield Burn Mine. BETTER IN PERSON!! The photos do not do this piece justice!
