Item Description

The Cholla Cat Mine is a lesser-known locality in western Arizona, that in recent years produced some very interesting specimens of purple Fluorite with rarely seen Mimetite. It's not common to find these minerals together from any locality, and the color contrast is fantastic. This toenail sized specimen hosts a few well-formed, translucent, rich purple color octahedral crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 1.2 cm across sitting on matrix, and partially coated by scattered tiny stark orange and yellow Mimetite crystals. A very colorful and alluring specimen of this seldom seen material. If you collect Fluorites, minerals of Arizona or unusual association pieces, don't miss out on this beauty.
From the collection of David E Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background. Specimen #148.
