Item Description

A sculptural and impressive large two-sided combination rib from the Moscona Mine in Asturias. Tiny, sparkling, gem, strawy-yellow fluorite cubes are richly covered with clusters of sharp, lustrous, faint pastel-pink, saddle-shaped dolomite rhombs. The dramatic cluster of glassy, translucent, nailhead calcite rhombs at the crest is a super accent. The rhomb at the end is 2.5 cm across. The back side is decidedly different! Here blocky and nailhead calcite rhombs and dolomite crystals totally cover the matrix. A very fine, large and pristine two-sided combination from this noted locale and the Raul Sanabria Collection. Unusual yellow fluorescence in the fluorite, probably from inclusions of hydrocarbons! The piece displays well without aid.
