Item Description

An impressive, sharply terminated, complete all-around tabular fluoro-richterite prism from this well-known Wilberforce area locale. The lustrous, mottled grayish-black is accented with scattered bit of calcite. Fluoro-richterite is a RARE member of the Amphibole Supergroup and is the F analogue of richterite. The world's finest examples easily come from the Wilberforce area. This notable locality was extinct prior to 1986. A partial cleave along one edge and a prism face contact with no damage are certainly only modest detractions to this excellent specimen. Large single crystals of this quality are very uncommon from here. Ex New York State Museum and Chet Lemanski Collections.
