Item Description

Foitite is a rare tourmaline group species discovered in 1993. It is very rare from the Erongo Mountains in this quality. Highly lustrous, jet-black, parallel-growth clusters of columnar foitite crystals are impressively set jackstraw style on the mounded matrix and are beautifully accented by the starkly contrasting, ivory feldspar. Some terminations look like post piles, while others are pyramidal. The striking central crystal is doubly terminated and is 3.2 cm long. Excellent and uncommon material from the Schlichter Collection.
