Item Description

A classic, showy and dense cluster of lustrous, dark gray, franklinite octahedrons is nicely accented with carmine-red, zincite on this fine old-timer from the famous Type Locality. The octahedrons reach 1.0 cm on this piece, which is nearly solid franklinite crystals. Zincite is the rare zinc oxide, which also has Franklin as the Type Locality. A bit of periphery wear is noted, but this remains a highly representative example of the combination species and noted locale. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
