Item Description

An incredibly rare specimen of the silver-bearing analogue of Tetrahedrite, Freibergite from this remote locality in Death Valley! This piece features lead-grey colored partial crystalline masses of Freibergite measuring up to 5 mm across associated with light green Malachite in / on Quartz matrix. Mineral specimens of any species are rare from this former Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn mining area, and if you collect minerals of California or sulfides, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12695). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
