Item Description

Friedelite is a relatively rare manganese iron silicate that is only found in a few localities world wide. There are hundreds of species that occur around the Franklin mining district, and Friedelite is among the most classic and well known. This piece hosts many small (less than 1 mm), sharp, lustrous, brownish-yellow crystals of Friedelite on matrix. The piece originally came from the collection of Pat Gross to Rich Kosnar in 1991. I have photographed Pat's hand-written label on the lid of the cardboard micromount box.
