Item Description

Galena and amethyst combination specimens are uncommon from the famous Commodore Mine at Creede. The showy piece comprises several good size cuboctahedral crystals which are relatively sharp and have a metallic grey matte luster. The stepped-growth faces and melted look at much character and the fact, that the galenas rest on a bed of amethyst crystals. The galena on the back is cleaved, but the splendent luster is revealed. Even the vein and mine level are known. Ex University of Arizona Collection and was on display there.
