Item Description

A very RARE, rich and aesthetic old-time galena and barite combination from this famous old Bi-Co-Ni-Ag-U mining district in the Black Forest. Both species are rare from here, but to have a specimen with both species in large well-defined crystals is exceptionally rare. Stepped-growth, metallic-gray galena octahedrons are nicely set among the clusters of barite blades. Four clusters of tiny, lustrous, translucent, honey-brown siderite crystals are RARE accessory and add contrast. Outstanding, old-time and rare combination material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 12649. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
