Item Description

A beautiful representation from the famous Viburnum Trend District in Missouri featuring a very sharp, well-formed, lustrous, metallic, silvery-grey colored elongated cube of Galena with accenting smaller Galena crystals and rhombic white Dolomite. The corners of the main cube are not cleave, but are actually crystallized showing octahedral modifications. VERY good quality on the front / display side, but it does have a contact on the back. It's not easy to get fine quality well-crystallized examples of this material these days. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #77). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
