Item Description

The lead mines at Rossie are among the most famous early American mineral localities. Lead mining took place from the 1830s until 1876. A sharp, lustrous, 1.5 x 1.4 cm, battleship-gray galena cube is jauntily set atop blocky, rhombic calcite matrix with a few smaller accenting galena crystals. These are rare and hard to get specimens from this historic US locality. Ex Mullane Collection and comes with an older, faded, Bourget Bros. label.
