Galena on Dolomite ex K. Williams

At 2.1 kilos (4.6 pounds!), here we present another ex-Williams giant galena crystal from a famous USA lead mining district - this is notable for its aesthetics and balance of size, and comes from the New Lead Belt found after the TriState district (see other specimens above) shut down. It probalby dates to teh 1970s or 1980s at latest, and is typical of what came out at the time. It has some minor edge wear, visible up close on several edges, but certainly you do not see that at first. It presents as a sharp piece of geometry, on a well trimmed matrix, and so it looks spectacular on a shelf. This has particularly good luster, not the worn battleship gray look that some of them have but rather a bright and shiny new metal color. He was one of the first to bring out Bulgarian material in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and a dealer for perhaps 50 years. ).
