Item Description

Splendent, sharp, metallic-gray galena cubes, to 1.0 cm, are festooned on the pebble sandstone matrix. This rich, excellent and uncommon specimen is from an extinct open pit Pb-Zn-Cu mine, that was abandoned in 1969 (MINDAT). Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4955 and acquired in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Specimens of this quality are rare and are seldom available.
