A really cool and unusual Galena, rarely seen outside of the Borieva Mine. The piece hosts a 2.8 cm predominant Galena crystal of a cuboctahedral habit with amazingly smooth, brilliant, reflective metallic silvery faces, but the top of the crystal has a skeletal or "hoppered" hollow opening, rarely seen in Galena. A few additional Galena crystals can be seen along with small gem quality prismatic Quartz crystals and a bit of micro mossy green "Chlorite" (likely Clinochlore) on matrix. The Galena crystal is 100% natural, and has not been carved or sandblasted to create the hollow opening. This particular style is well-known from this locality. A beautiful, showy and classic example of these famous Galena specimens. Great quality all around with no major damage, and it's so aesthetic with the big Galena sitting elegantly atop the piece. Priced at $1,500 in our inventory. From the collection of Dr. Barratt L. Phillips.
