Item Description

A superb, old-time cluster of four, intergrown, lustrous, battleship-gray, galena cubes from an UNCOMMON mine at Treece, Kansas - the John Bailey Mine. The frontal display view is essentially pristine on this historic classic, which also has micro-fortification features. The striking, large, central cube is 6.4 x 6.3 x 5.4 cm. Ex Flo and Bill Smith Collection (Bill is a noted Denver collector) and George Feist Collection # 2052. George's note on the back of the label indicates he bought the piece from the Smiths in 1970 for $25. Not cheap in those days! The quality speaks for itself. Valued today at $600. Heavy lead at 4.4 pounds or 2 kilos.
