Item Description

Well crystallized galenas were actually quite uncommon from the famous and now-closed Elmwood Mine. This striking, large, hefty, two-sided, cluster of crystals even has some classic Elmwood purple fluorite crystals on one side to confirm the locale - or I woul ddoubt it, frankly! The lustrous, metallic-gray galena cubes reach a sizable 5.7 x 5.7 x 2.9 cm on this piece. In person, this is actually quite a dramatic piece. 9.5 pounds or 4.3 kilos. Ex Larry Krause Collection. GALENAS OF THIS CALIBRE FROM ELMWOOD ARE VERY RARE, and have gone on market from $1000-2500 easily, depending on the dealer and their knowledge of the locality (now closed). this is an important piece, not just a big piece, and we were curious to see if it would get noticed at auction...it IS a killer for this mine.
