Galena (twinned)

Item Description

There is just something alluring about a really good Galena, and this old German specimen certainly qualifies. The crystals, which are twinned on (111), range up to 3.7 cm, and the faces vary from well-defined and sharp to those faces that have what can best be described as having a 'melted' look. Combining the two looks makes for a very attractive piece, almost with an almost 'exotic' aesthetic. There simply are not many Galenas like this around, especially considering their age and their desirability. This was #2864 in Kay's collection, acquired in 1963.
