Item Description

A RARE and excellent old-time galena and fluorite combination miniature from this famous extinct Pb-Ag district. Neudorf is renowned for world-class galena and siderite specimens. The last mine closed in 1903. Fluorite is rare from here and to find a very aesthetic combination is RARE, indeed. A 1.2 cm, lustrous, translucent cube with frosted stepped-growth faces is jauntily perched on the side of a sharp, lustrous, metallic, cuboctahedron. The very interesting modified faces and attached side car crystal add much character. Depending on the light incidence and brighness, the galena faces have beautiful iridescence, which adds even more pizzazz to this outstanding combination rarity from the Meiseberg Mine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 9200 and acquired from the Lidstrom's at Tucson in 1981. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A superb and rare old combination specimen from historic Neudorf.
