Item Description

Fine galena specimens from the Southern Illinois Fluorite District are not all that common. This excellent large cube has good luster with battleship-gray color. The crystal faces are strikingly enhanced by the "fortification" structures, lustrous, cream-colored calcite crystals and even a couple of tiny, gemmy, rubyjack sphalerites on one side. The cube displays very well. The two cleaved faces are out of sight and the partially contacted face is a very modest detraction. Ex Jaime Bird Collection and according his label, it was obtained in a trade in 1972. Classic, fine and hard-to-get material.
