Item Description

A splendent, textbook, gunmetal-grey Galena cube perched on a knobby Chalcopyrite and Galena matrix, from the Buick Mine of Missouri’s Viburnum Trend. This large cube has interesting, slightly modified corners and dramatically tiered faces. The luster is very good to satiny, and the main crystal, at 5 cm tall and 4.4 cm across, is significant in size. A classic Viburnum Trend Galena, the aesthetics are excellent as the impressive Galena is set perfectly atop the matrix. A superb 3-D, complete example of this old classic USA material, and in this condition quite hard to get today. Valued $1500 From the collection of East Coast collector, George Elling, specializing in historic minerals of the East Coast and minerals from the development of old European mineralogy.
