Item Description

An OLD-TIME, RARE, combination fluorite from this well-known Northumberland mine. This old mine was reopened in the 1940s to 80s and all specimens shown in the MINDAT photo gallery are from that era. Very glassy, gemmy, nearly colorless to light amber cubes, to 2.5 cm, compose this very attractive mounded specimen. Crystal faces are water-clear to frosted. The striking "clouds" included in the cubes resemble the famous fluorites from Clay Center, Ohio, adding much pizzazz. Rich preferential coatings of brown siderite rhombs are a super and rare accent to this RARE 360-degree combination. Nearly pristine, with only a single gently bruised cube at the top and a bit of noted basal periphery wear. This exceptional and rare combination old-timer has multiple fine display views. From an East Coast collection. Purple fluorescence.
