Item Description

Pyrite is extremely rare from the famous Pederneira Mine. And pyrite ON TOURMALINE is almost unheard of, from any locality. This was a small, weird find of the late 1980s. Sparkly, drusy pyrite aesthetically drapes one edge of this highly lustrous, well-striated, partially gemmy forest-green tourmaline crystal. The tourmaline looks like a schorl, until it is backlit, then the lower half really GLOWS with rich green color saturation. Complete all-around. The termination is pristine and the bruise near the termination on one side is out-of-sight in the two primary display views. A trivial bit of side wear is also noted. A nearly unique combination specimen from this renowned locale from the Gerald Herfurth Collection. Very nifty, showy and rare! valued $1500
