Item Description

A gorgeous, highly lustrous, doubly terminated, gem, vivianite prism from the famous Blackbird Mine. The color is a beautiful teal-blue and the sharp, modified, pyramidal termination is a pleasing purple. The striking curved "tail" is terminated with an attachment cleavage on either side. NOTE THE PURPLE COLOR ATOP - easily visible when the piece is lit at an angle, or down the c axis, but trending green when lit poorly or from the side. The purple color is indicative of this locality, closed since the 1960s. Old and choice material. The gemminess of this crystal is top notch. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family. valued $400
