Item Description

Wow! An amazing old-time tourmaline from the famed Cruzeiro Mine. The dramatic cleft forms two striking pyramidal towers! The gem, very glassy, lustrous, well-striated parallel-growth crystal is olive-green above the cleft and has a beautiful bottle-green section below. The base is light grass green. It GLOWS, when backlit! Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only trivial termination bruising. The fantastic cleft and contacting on the sides probably held cleavelandite blades, which were later dissolved away. A surreal and outstanding old-time Cruzeiro tourmaline from the 1960s-70s finds. Rare in this style and exceptional tourmaline from the S. Schwarzinger Collection. 37 grams mass. BETTER in person.
