Item Description

Two gemmy and lustrous apatite crystals are aesthetically set on matrix on this excellent small cabinet from this famous Mexican iron mine. The sharply terminated glassy crystals have the classic yellow-green color, that apatites from here are renowned for. The dramatically set 2.8 x 1.8 cm large crystal is very gemmy. It is in excellent shape, with only a small bruise on one termination edge and the bit of noted basal periphery wear. Ex Don Boydston Collection. Don was a major collector of the 1940s-1970s and collecting buddy with Dave Wilber. The piece undoubtably dates to the 1960s or earlier. Choice Cerro de Mercado matrix apatite. Matrix specimens of this quality are not that common.
