Item Description
Striking, gemmy and highly lustrous, tabular, "electric-blue", azurite blades to a large, 2.7 cm form a very sculptural cluster against the bit of starkly contrasting matrix on this excellent specimen from recent finds at the Milpillas Mine of Mexico. A trivial bit of contacting is noted, but in the context of this fine piece, it is a very modest detraction. These gemmy azurites compare very favorably with the best from Touissit, Tsumeb or Zacatecas. High praise, indeed. This is a major addition to the auctions from a recent large lot purchase, and is valued at $1500. Outstanding material! THIS LOCALITY WILL STOP PRODUCING AZURITE WITHIN A YEAR OR TWO, as the mining goes through the oxide zone
