Item Description

A striking and beautiful, gemmy and lustrous, bi-colored tourmaline from the famous Cruzeiro Mine. A fabulous gem, rich raspberry-red termination caps this very glassy, highly lustrous, well-striated crystal. It grades down to a gemmy/translucent pretty cranberry-red section and is underlain by a dramatically contrasting gemmy green section. The base is a light pink. The side car adds pizzazz and has a healed termination. The crystal GLOWS, when backlit! Complete all-around and in great shape. The bit of noted termination edge wear certainly has minimal impact to the overall excellence and beauty of this fine crystal from the 1960s or 70s finds. Classic material from the Kay Robertson Collection # K36-2885. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). 50 grams mass.
