Gem peridot for jewelry has been mined at this ancient locale in the Red Sea since the 3rd century Pharaohs and Kings. It was highly prized by civilizations of the time. Classic and beautiful lime-green color highlights this limpid, lustrous, sharply terminated 360-degree orthorhombic thumbnail crystal with a bit of embedded matrix. Complete all-around and in great shape. One side is dinged, but is out-of-sight in the primary display view. A classic, cute peridot crystal from this prized historic locale. The peridot mines have been extinct for a long time and specimens are rare (and this is visibly authentic for one such piece). Mass is 17.57carats or 3.5 grams. valued $250-500
