Item Description

Beautiful rich rose-red gemmy sections of rhodochrosite crystals, to 1.1 cm, are nicely scattered on the lightweight gossan matrix on this showy and classic miniature from the famous finds at the Potosi Mine. The cluster of tiny, gemmy, colorless, frosted fluorite octahedrons in one corner is a RARE and desirable accessory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7691 and acquired in Denver in 1975. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A choice and rare combination miniature from the finds.
